Sandra Clark
Sandy Clark (North Fork Mono) is a cultural practitioner, and one of her favorite things to do is gather. When it’s gathering time, she’s hard to find. She has been basket weaving for about 30 years. An elder once told her: if you don’t know when, where, and how, then you can’t make a basket. Her native roots dug in and from then on, she was very interested in finding out everything there is to know about basket materials, the right season to gather, and more. She has taught basket classes and cultural demonstrations for schools and museums. She also enjoys amateur photography, hiking, quilting, and especially making acorns. She is a retired school bus driver.
